General information about the Deutschlandticket

FAQs

With the Deutschlandticket, you can use all local public transport in Germany with a single ticket. The ticket for 58 euros per month is a personal season ticket without transferability, which is only available as a subscription. It is valid nationwide on local public transport and allows you to travel throughout Germany on local public transport (ÖPNV) and in the 2nd  class of regional rail transport of all transport companies, regional tariffs and transport associations as well as in areas without a local public transport association.
The Deutschlandticket is also accepted in the VBB region on some long-distance Deutsche Bahn trains with fare acceptance on local services. Passengers with the Deutschlandticket can use the trains on the connections Berlin Hbf - Elsterwerda (IC), Berlin Südkreuz - Prenzlau (ICE) and an IC train pair Potsdam Hbf - Cottbus at no extra charge. The Deutschlandticket is not valid for all other long-distance services (e.g. ICE, IC, EC) in Berlin and Brandenburg.
You cannot take any other people, dogs or bicycles free of charge with the Deutschlandticket for nationwide journeys, with the exception of children under the age of 6 - they travel free of charge. However, in deviation from the nationwide regulation, one dog may be carried free of charge within the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB).

The Deutschlandticket started on 1 May 2023.

The Deutschlandticket is valid on all local public transport in the Federal Republic of Germany and is also valid on some long-distance Deutsche Bahn trains in the VBB region (see FAQs Purchase options and use) with fare recognition on local transport. It is valid within the tariff limits of the participating transport associations. This means that foreign stops that are currently covered by the VBB fare zone (Słubice with transport operated by Stadtverkehrsgesellschaft mbH Frankfurt/Oder, Krajnik Dolny with transport operated by Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH and Gubin with transport operated by Spree-Neiße-Cottbusverkehr GmbH) can also be reached with the Deutschlandticket.

The Deutschlandticket is valid within the fare limits of the participating transport associations, i.e. the validity of the ticket ends with the last stop in the respective fare zone. This means that foreign stops in Poland, which are currently covered by the VBB fare zone, can also be reached with the Deutschlandticket. For example, journeys to Słubice can be made using transport operated by Stadtverkehrsgesellschaft mbH Frankfurt/Oder (SVF), journeys to Krajnik Dolny can be made using transport operated by Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (UVG) and journeys to Gubin can be made using transport operated by Spree-Neiße-Cottbusverkehr GmbH. The Deutschlandticket is not valid on regional rail services to Poland, e.g. not to Szczecin. Please note the applicable provisions of the VBB Tariff Part E.

The ticket costs 58 euros per month. In the VBB, the amount is debited only on a monthly basis.

Yes, a Deutschlandticket Job is also offered in addition to the Deutschlandticket. If the employer contributes at least 25 per cent (= EUR 14.50) to the issue price (EUR 58), an additional public transport discount of 5 per cent (= EUR 2.90) is granted. This means that the Deutschlandticket Job costs EUR 55.10 on sale. The employer's contribution of EUR 14.50 to its employees means that it costs the employee a maximum of EUR 40.60 per month. For more information, please contact your transport company or your employer.
There are currently no further discounts for other customer groups. They can purchase the Deutschlandticket for 58 euros per month.

The Deutschlandticket is offered on a calendar basis, i.e. from the 1st of a month to the last day of a month.
If you wish to join during the current month, this is only possible at the sales points/subscription centres of the transport companies. The Germany ticket also costs 58 euros in the current month.

The entire VBB ticket range will remain unchanged until further notice. The VBB tariff in its current version has been decided by the VBB committees, approved by the tariff approval authorities and is legally valid.
Some VBB fare products are more expensive than the Deutschlandticket, but offer a transport option for passengers and bicycles or transferability. The Deutschlandticket as a nationwide ticket offer expands the range of services.

The Deutschlandticket is not transferable to other people.
