Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg

Eligible for the Mobilitätsticket are recipients of unemployment benefits (Sozialgesetzbuch II), social benefits (Sozialgesetzbuch XII), benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act and their dependents.

The eligibility will be stated on a so-called VBB customer card. Pupils who receive a subsidy for school transport are not entitled to a Mobilitätsticket. Pupils please contact the school authority. In most cases, pupils from communities of need receive a pupil ticket for which parents do not have to pay their own contribution.

The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg is a personal monthly ticket which is issued at a reduced price. Passengers save up to 50 percent compared to the usual VBB-Umweltkarte. 

The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg is solely issued as monthly ticket and aimed at providing an easy and comfortable access to public transport in Brandenburg.

The Deutschlandticket was introduced on May 1, 2023. The Deutschlandticket could be another alternative for you, as trips to Berlin are included in local transport due to its nationwide validity. Regardless, it is cheaper for longer distances. It is offered as a monthly cancellable subscription at a price of 49,00 Euros per month. You do not need a customer card for the Deutschlandticket as it is sold to all citizens.

The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg is valid on all busses and trains in the VBB network in the state of Brandenburg. The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg can be issed for different tariff areas, e.g. for independent cities like Potsdam or a combination of, say, three districs - depending on your personal needs. Within the chosen tariff area, busses and trains can be used for any number of journeys within one month. The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg cannot be used for trips to Berlin. 

The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg consists of a VBB customer card which carries a photo and on which the eligibility will be stated as well as of a coupon for the chosen period/area of validity. The respective unemployment agency or social welfare agency etc. will check the eligibility and then issue the VBB customer card with personal details (name, first name) and the corresponding period of validity (usually a maximum of six months). The VBB customer card is only valid with a photo why you need to bring a passport style photo of you with you when you first apply for a customer card. The VBB customer card is only valid for a specified period of time. Afterwards, it looses its validity. In case of extended eligibility, the customer card needs to be extended by the respective administration as well. If you no longer receive benefits, please return the customer card to your respective administration.

The Mobilitätsticket itself (the coupon, not the customer card) is sold by the transport operators. It can be bought at the transport operators' service points, sometimes also at ticket machines or the bus driver. Generally, the Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg can be bought at all places which also sell regular monthly tickets. 

The coupon itself shows the area and period of validity. Please add the number of your VBB customer card yourself. The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg cannot be transferred to any other person and is only valid if the customer card number is stated on it as well. 

Also, you don't have to wait until the next month starts. The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg can be issued on a sliding scale, i.e. valid from any day (e.g. from September 25th to October 24th). It is then valid until midnight on the day in the following month that precedes the first day of validity. 

The Mobilitätsticket Brandenburg allows you to take children up to the age of six, a stroller/pram, luggage as well as a dog with you for free (no other adults though). If you take a bike with you, you will need an additional ticket for bicycles.
